Engagement season is upon us!
The holidays are a magical time when couples and families spend time together and most likely plan to take the next step. After celebrating the moment you say “YES”, thoughts of planning, decorating, food, drinks, and putting together the biggest party comes to mind.
Now where to start…
One of the first and possibly biggest details to consider is, of course, your event venue! What location are you looking for? Coastal? Mountains? Urban? 👀 Myrtle Beach? It’s expected that you want a venue that is not only beautiful, but also versatile. Whether you want an indoor or outdoor option (or both!) it’s your job to find the venue that fits your needs.
Not only are you looking for a location in a venue, but you have to think of how big you want your space and what comes included in your booking. Can the venue accommodate all 100-200 family and friends? (It sounds like a lot, but you also have to think of their “Plus Ones”) Some venues have more to offer that are included in your booking. Make sure to check what the venue has because this will change your idea of what is affordable or not! For example, some include table, linens, chairs, multiple ceremony areas, two dressing rooms, etc. However, other venues may add fees to each item or not offer it at all!
Does your venue fit your style? You have to look at the aesthetic of the venue and if it will match your vision! Every wedding vendor wants to make your dream wedding come true, but the foundation of your wedding look will be the venue.
There are many things to think of when looking into what you want in a venue. Just take a look at our Blog Post ⬅
Next box to check off on your wedding list would be a planner. Yes, the days of planning your wedding with a 12 inch thick binder full of ideas has become infinitely easier! A wedding planner is someone that takes the pressure of contacting all of your booked and potential vendors, putting together timelines, booking reservations, making sure nothing gets overlooked, helping you with styling and small details, and doing everything for you on the big day! Their job is to make sure your wedding isn’t YOUR job so you can enjoy every second of it. Find a planner that you are comfortable with and one that you can trust (and has great style)!
Who do you think will be able to influence the entire day and night of your wedding? If you guessed DJ you are absolutely right! Your DJ has a lot of responsibilities ranging from music for guest arrival, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and exit to microphones for officiants, uplighting, specialty exits/dances, photobooths, and creating a fun atmosphere! Check with your DJ/Band to see all that they offer. Try to look up potential DJ’s or Bands through videos, social media, and other online sources! The goal is to find a DJ or Band that matches your party energy or one that can bring the energy!
Vendors are an amazing group of people that all have important roles for your wedding day. Finding the right mix of vendors that will make a flawless day is not impossible and is completely up to you! The venue, planner, and DJ are important, but not the only ones that you need to look out for.
Booking well in advance will ensure that you have what you need without worrying. The road leading to feeling prepared to book will be that initial checklist of people you need to contact! Start by listing out the vendors you need or want, then organize by importance!
Before you know it, you’ll be in trusted hands and it’ll be the day to say “I DO”!
